Myrtis E. Reavis, age 87, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 23, 2019 in Mesquite, TX. She was born on March 2, 1931 in Monroe, LA and began her life in Rayville, LA until she moved with her family to Dallas, TX. Myrtis graduated from North Dallas HS and continued her education at Draughon’s Business College. Her work career included Braniff Airlines in Reservations and with Presidential Life as an Insurance Claims Administrator. Myrtis loved to travel and explore the world through reading books and especially loved reading cookbooks cover to cover. But her deepest love was for her kids and grandkids.
Preceded in death by parents Gilbert Stokes and Lessie Oehlke, sons-in-law Jim Bradley and Frankie Glenn Everett, and grandson Frankie Glen Everett.
Myrtis is survived by sons - David Reavis and wife Laurie from Richardson, TX and Tom Reavis and wife Deborah from Fort Worth, TX, daughters – Marsha Rene Everett from Mesquite, TX and Susan Bradley from Anna, TX, 16 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Mom (Memaw) will be deeply missed by her family.
Services have been scheduled for 10:00 A.M., Thursday, February 28, 2019 at Laurel Oaks Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Donnie Foster officiating. Following the service, there will be a short procession to Laurel Oaks Memorial Park where she will be laid to rest in the Hillside Estates. Grandsons, Jimmy Bradley, John Meza, Ben Reavis, Chris Reavis, Cullen Reavis, and Logan Reavis will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends for a viewing and a time of visitation from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M., Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at Laurel Oaks Funeral Home.
