A beloved daughter, grandaughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin and friend, Jessica Lynn Smith-Peña left this world unexpectedly, at the young age of 28, on January 9, 2020. She was born on May 23, 1991 in Morgantown, West Virginia.
Jessica was a kind hearted young woman, who did not hesitate to help others even when she was in need herself. She lit up any room she walked into with her smile, and stunning blue eyes. She was always silly and had a highly contagious giggle. She loved working on her pappy’s farm, hunting, fishing, doing crafts, baking and spending time with family and friends. She was dedicated to her job at Joe’s Seafood, where she was thought of as family. Her presence in our lives will truly be sorely missed.
She is greeted in heaven by her great-grandparents, Hester and Earl Law; grandmother, Naomi Jean Ruckle; uncle, William Howard Smith; and nephew, Braylon Riggins.
She is mourned on Earth by her parents, Jennifer and Gorgonio Peña of Kemp, TX; grandparents, Glennis Ray Ruckle of Morgantown, WV, Maria Nieves Ventura, and Maximo Peña of Santa Maria Del Rio, San Luis Potosi, Mexico; her brother, Gorgonio Peña ll and sister, Bibianna Peña; nieces and nephew, Cearah, Ava, and Beau; God-children, Deserey, Leo, and Ariana Castillo; and many other family and friends.
Visitation will be 5 P.M. - 8 P.M. Wednesday, January 15 and the service will be held at 2 P.M. Thursday, January 16 at Laurel Oaks Funeral Home in Mesquite, Texas.
Thank you to our family and friends for your condolences, donations and compassion throughout this rough time. Thank you to the staff at Baylor Medical University Hospital in Dallas, Texas.
I ached and yearned for that imaginary place, the one which I could breath. Now I sit here with God, with Nature beauty and astounding light; and now I feel like finally I can BREATHE!
