Dr. Glenn Anthony Boyd, resident of Duncanville, TX, suddenly passed away on May 17, 2018 at his home at the age of 60 years. Glenn was born in Springfield, IL on December 19, 1957, the son of Marvin and Bernice Boyd. He was raised in Manhattan, Kansas where he attended grade school through high school and graduated from Kansas State University. Glenn continued his education at the school of Optometry at the University of Houston and started practicing as an Optometrist in 1984 in the Red Bird and Arlington area. Dr. Boyd opened his own office in Mansfield, Texas in 2004 and recently opened an office in Midlothian, Texas. Glenn was fun, loving and dearly loved his granddaughters Reagan and Riley who called him "DOC". He loved buying gifts for these two and everyone else. Dr. Boyd was known for his "ODD" sense of humor and “CORNY” jokes. Glenn loved to travel, scuba dive, aviation (he had his pilot’s license) and just about any type of outdoor activity or game. He was truly a "KID" at heart. He will be sadly missed by his wife, Jane Boyd, stepson, Jerry Peterson, and his wife Carolyn and their daughters, Reagan and Riley. His sister, Edwina Glass, his nieces, Fran New, Becca Glass, and Maddie Glass, and a large extended family and dear friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Marvin and Bernice Boyd, and Aunt and Uncle Margaret and Wendell Henby. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held Friday, May 25, 2018 at 10:00 a.m., in the chapel of Laurel Oaks Funeral Home, 12649 Lake June Rd., Mesquite, Tx. 75180.
