Larry Walter Plant passed away February 12, 2019 in Dallas, Texas. He was born on November 23, 1948 in Paris, Texas. He was the youngest child of Walter and Esther Wheeler Plant. He was raised in and around the Balch Springs area from the time he was 2 years old.
He is survived by his wife Kathy, son Lance and his wife Jennifer Plant, daughter Michele Plant, grandchildren Landon and Kyndall Plant, their mother Kim Carney, step-children Jaci and Kristen. Also brother Jack Plant, sister Betty Littles and many nieces, nephews, cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Travis, Bobby, Dennis, sisters Opal Plant and Patsy Harris.
Whether feather or fur, he loved raising and being around animals. For many years he enjoyed flying racing homing pigeons. In his teens his biggest pride was his horse, Gypsy. He would ride her 5 miles to the Mesquite Rodeo every Friday night to ride in the Grand Entry.
But more than anything, he adored his grandkids, Landon and Kyndall.
The family will receive friends at Laurel Oaks Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Friday evening, February 15, 2019. The service will be at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, February 16, 2019 at Laurel Oaks Chapel with Rev. Ted Kiser officiating. Following the service, there will be a short procession to Laurel Oaks Memorial Park where Larry will be laid to rest in the Garden of Peace. Harvey Plant, Kenneth Mathis, Rodney Lankford, Max Eddie Thomas, Justin Solsbery, and Clint Plemons will serve as pallbearers.
