Mr. James R. Hamilton passed away Thursday afternoon, October 17, 2019 at his home in Mesquite, Texas. He was born May 12, 1929 in Mount Vernon in Montgomery County, Georgia to Lewis WIlliam and Etta May (Faircloth) Hamilton. He was 91 years of age.
Raised as one of five boys in Brunswick, Georgia, James cultivated an incredible work ethic that would lead him in serving seven years in the United States Air Force and on to working over 20 years at Texas Instruments. James was a devout Christian, an avid Dallas Cowboys fan and loved working on classic Mustangs in his driveway. A dedicated family man, he never passed up an opportunity to socialize with friends and family...especially when he knew a good meal would be involved. His greatest treasure here on Earth was his beloved wife of 71 years, Helen Joy (Perry) Hamilton.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his dear wife, Helen Joy (Perry) Hamilton; three devoted children, Debbie Patterson, Pam Wommack and Mark Hamilton; seven wonderful grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a number of extended family and dear friends. His oldest son, Jerry Hamilton, preceded him in death in June of 2009.
James will always be remembered for his love he had for those he held dear...and while we will always miss him, we find peace in the fact that he didn’t leave us, he’s just waiting on us.
The family will receive friends Monday evening, October 21, 2019 from 6-8:00 p.m. at Laurel Oaks Funeral Home.
