Welcome to the memorial page for

William E. Newton

March 21, 1948 ~ September 11, 2017 (age 69)

The Piano Brothers

William E. Newton, aka Bill and known by most as Fig, ended his 2 1/2 year battle with cancer and diabetes on September 11th.  He was preceded in death by his parents Wally & Betty Newton and his son Christopher Newton.  He is survived by his wife of 37 years Nancy Newton, daughters Candice Grissom and Alicia Newton, brother Dan Newton, and grandchildren Ashley and Austin Loper.

Other than spending time with his family, Fig loved anything related to cars, up to and including restoring them.  He had just completed his final project, a frame off restoration, all original, 1973 Corvette Stingray.

Fig was a master at sheet metal fabrication.  He started his sheet metal career at the Fabricators in the 70’s.  The majority of his career was spent with H & K Dallas which ultimately led to the start of his own business, Classic Stainless, Inc. in 2001.

The family invites you to celebrate Fig's life Thursday, September 14th, from 6:00 to 8:00pm at Laurel Oaks Funeral Home, 12649 Lake June Rd., Mesquite, 75180. They also invite you to share your favorite "Fig" story with everyone.  In lieu of flowers the family supports the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
