Martha McCraw HamerFebruary 6, 1940 ~ June 14, 2017 (age 77)
Martha (McCraw) Hamer was born to Bill and Grace McCraw on February 6, 1940, at St. Paul's Hospital in Dallas, Texas. Mrs. Hamer passed away with her family by her side on June 14, 2017 in Sunnyvale, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband John "Red" Hamer in 2007. Martha is survived by her sister Sara Burris and husband Gaylon, daughter Donna Moore and husband Donnie, granddaughters Kathryn Banks and husband Joseph, Sarah Sutton, great-granddaughters Samantha and Riley Sutton, stepsons Mike, David and Nick Hamer, step grandchildren Kate, Adam and Cora Hamer and many nephews and nieces. Martha was raised Baptist and grew up in Mesquite having graduated from Mesquite High School in 1958. She worked many years for Community Newspapers: Whiterocker, Mesquiter and Suburban Tribune. Mrs. Hamer enjoyed being the family historian researching her ancestry and communicating with distant family through social media how everyone was related. Her and husband Red loved living in the country where they fished and took care of many dogs. The highlights of her life was babysitting her newborn granddaughter Katy until she was 4 years old. A celebration of Mrs. Hamer's life will be held at the First United Methodist Church of Mesquite, 300 N. Galloway Ave., Mesquite, Texas 75149 at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, July 15, 2017 with Reverend Tom Palmer officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to your favorite pet rescue or Take Me Home Pet Rescue, 561 W. Campbell Rd., Richardson, Texas 75080.
