Helen Evelyn (Barton) Conner

June 24, 1942 ~ February 12, 2018 (age 75)

Helen Evelyn Conner passed away on Monday, February 12, 2018, at Baylor Hospital in Dallas, Texas after suffering heart complications. She was born in Dallas, Texas to Ernest and Gertrude Barton on June 24, 1942.  Helen graduated from St. Edwards Catholic High School in Dallas, Texas. Helen attended Eastfield College in Mesquite, Texas earning an associate’s degree.  She married James Wendell Conner on November 20, 1965.  They were happily married for 50 years and enjoyed every moment they spent together. Helen was a member of SPJST Lodge 84.  Helen was the acting president of the St. Pius X Ladies Society.  She was retired from the Dallas Times Herald and later retired after working as an Administrator in various Assisted Living Centers. She loved family gatherings, church activities, shopping, reading, watching movies and traveling. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.  Helen is preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Gertrude Barton; husband, James Wendell Conner; son, Christopher Scott Conner; In-laws Mansel & Ruby Conner; brothers-in-law, Charles Conner and Marvin (Oley) Owens; sister-in-law, Audrey Barton. She is survived by her daughters, Michelle and Leslie, and son, Paul; granddaughter, Amber; grandsons, Jacob and his wife, Chelsea and Spencer; great grandchildren, Sydney, George and Jolene. She also leaves behind brothers, Bill Barton and Larry Barton; sisters-in-law, Darlene Barton, Carol Owens, Sheila Wilde; brother-in-law, Robert Wilde and many nieces, nephews and friends. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
